Pride and Prejudice is one of the most beloved novels of all time and has been made into several movies. For me the 1995 mini series is my go to whenever I am anxious or sad or just can’t find anything I want to watch. For my niece, the 2005 version is her comfort movie. Everyone has their favorite. On our trip to England we had the opportunity to visit some of the filming locations from the 2005 version starring Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet.
First during our visit to Wiltshire, we visited the Temple of Apollo in Stourhead Gardens, which was the setting for Darcy’s initial proposal to Elizabeth. The gardens and grounds are magnificent and a great place for a walk but I am not going to lie, one of our favorite parts was posing in front of the temple.
Later in our trip we hiked to Stanage Edge in the Peaks District where the sweeping scene of Elizabeth on the rock ledge was filmed. The weather was drizzly and foggy so not exactly ideal but still some stunning views and a lot of fun shooting photos.
Last stop was Chatsworth House in Derbyshire which was used as the exterior of Pemberley.
We did not find Mr Darcy but we sure had fun searching.
